South Leeds & Morley District Celebrates 25 Years with Spectacular Camp at Hesley Wood
Earlier this year, South Leeds & Morley Scout District came together at Hesley Wood Scout Campsite for a truly memorable District Camp, celebrating an incredible 25 years of the district. The weekend was packed with adventure, creativity, teamwork and fun, bringing together young people and volunteers from across the district to mark this special milestone in style.

🏕️ A Weekend Full of Adventure
The scale of the camp was reflected in the huge range of activities on offer β and the enthusiasm with which they were taken up. Across the weekend, thousands of activity sessions were completed, giving Scouts the chance to try something new, challenge themselves, and most importantly, have fun with friends.

Alongside high-adrenaline activities like the zip line, assault course, and nerf arena, there were plenty of creative and reflective opportunities too, including heritage activities, a youth time capsule, crafting woggles and bracelets, and even camp doughnuts and pitta pizzas for budding chefs.
The sheer variety ensured there was something for everyone, from first-time campers to seasoned Scouts.
π District Talent Show Steals the Show
One of the highlights of the camp was the District Talent Show, which showcased the confidence, creativity and humour of young people from across the district. Acts ranged from music and dance to comedy and demonstrations, with plenty of laughs and applause along the way.

After a fantastic evening of performances, 12th Morley were crowned overall winners, but every group received huge praise for getting involved and entertaining the crowd.

This camp was more than just a weekend away β it was a celebration of 25 years of Scouting in South Leeds & Morley, made possible by the dedication of volunteers past and present. From adventurous activities to shared campfires and unforgettable performances, the camp perfectly captured the spirit of the district.
A huge thank you goes to Hesley Wood Scout Campsite, all the activity leaders, volunteers, young leaders, and organisers who helped make the camp such a success. Most of all, well done to the young people who embraced every opportunity and made the weekend one to remember.
